Who is Sifu Hallyu?

Sifu is the Chinese word for master.

Hallyu is a Korean term that describes the wave of popularity and content produced by Korea which has become a major pop culture export for the nation.

I’m a connoisseur of visual pop culture.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Art History (East Asia) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from San Francisco State University in 2009.  My undergraduate work taught me how to analyze and critic visual culture and communicate my thoughts in a way that is (I hope) clear and concise. I paint when I can and blog almost daily on whatever I’m watching at the moment. Right now I’m working on and blogging about Korean Drama, Kpop, East Asian Cinema, Japanese Anime, and American SciFi and Horror films/tv series. I’m an avid gamer as well and working my way through the Bioshock, Batman Arkham, and Dark Souls series.

I always like hearing feedback and what others think about my content or the content I write about, so feel free to comment and strike up a conversation. Stay a while, pull up a chair…let’s have a proverbial drink!

Are you still playing Dark Souls? I haven’t played myself, but I’ve watched people play. It looks really hard.

I’d rather be enjoying K-content and writing these days, but I mess around with the game once in a while. The Souls series is incredibly difficult, but it’s difficulty is in it’s brilliant level design and game mechanics. If you’re into American style r.p.g. bit with a Japanese take and frustration rewarding gameplay you’ll like the series. I did enjoy Demon Souls far more than Dark Souls, but Dark Souls is a better game all around.

Good to know. I like games, but I’m in the same boat as you; I’d rather kdrama watch, listen to kpop and blog right now… And read manga.
